Owners of Tesla updates 2024.8.x can now access FSD version 12. The latest version of FSD is FSD v12.3.6, which was released in update 2024.14.6. Updates 2024.14.5 and 2024.14.5 are also compatible with FSD v12, but this appears to be the last release of this version. In 2024.3.25, FSD owners have the same version as FSD v12.3.6.

Updating to FSD v12

Previously, FSD v12 was based on branch 2024.3, so vehicles running update 2024.2 or older were only able to use it. Due to Tesla’s inability to roll back software versions, FSD v12 was only available to vehicles on update 2024.8.x. FSD v11 became problematic for vehicles already running update 2024.8.x.

FSD Trial

Free one-month trials of FSD v12 began last month, but vehicles running 2024.8.x were not eligible for them and were therefore unable to use them. These vehicles will finally be eligible for FSD v12 when update 2024.14.6 is released. They will receive a one-month trial of the software.

Rollout

2024.14.6 is now rolling out in the US. It appears to be focused on getting users onto FSD v12, which has just started. The rollout has just begun, so it’ll slowly roll out to more vehicles. It’s currently available to about 1% of Tesla fleets. Keep an eye on our 2024.14.6 rollout statistics page to find out when new waves are released.

Vehicles Already on FSD v12

This update is also available to vehicles on FSD v12 with update 2024.3.25, which includes not only the vast number of new features in update 2024.24, but also those from update 2024.8 that are skipping over. It won’t include any improvements to FSD, but will include the vast number of new features in update 2024.14.

The new Model S and Model X will get 2024.8 features including a one-time charge limit, mobile phone key support for ultra-wideband phones, updated turn signal icons, and new WiFi and Bluetooth menus.
