From the start of its production in 2016, Tesla’s Model X was a futuristic head-turner with its gullwing doors and roller coaster-like acceleration (a first in an SUV).
Due to the fact that they are all made in the same factory and on the same production line, the tesla Model X colors convention is quite similar to that of the Model S.
In the beginning, there were more colors for the Model X, but the range has since been trimmed to five (Deep Blue Metallic, Midnight Silver Metallic, Pearl White Multicoat, Red Multi-Coat, and Solid Black).

A new generation of SUV was born in 2016 with Tesla’s Model X — an SUV unlike any other. With nine battery/drive options ranging from 60D to 100D, it sure made a big impression.
In contrast to the Model S, the Model X was never offered in a rear-wheel drive (RWD) configuration. Performance and Ludicrous options were offered right away on the Model X.
The Model X offered all Model S interior and exterior color options in 2016 with one exception, Signature Red also available on the first 1000 vehicles. This rare, rich red had only been offered on the Model S once before (the 2012 version).

2017 Model X Colors
Tesla streamlined their Model X production in 2017, while providing buyers with a variety of Model X options.
As of 2017, Tesla’s Model X lineup includes 75D, 90D, P90D, P90DL, 100D, P100D, and P100DL battery packs instead of 70 and 75 kWh units.
Tesla reduced the number of exterior colors available on the Model X during the 2017 model year, while adding Black, White, and Cream, while removing Ultra White.

2018 Model X Colors
As of 2018, there are only four options for Model X batteries (75D, 100D, P100D, and P100DL).
Despite the fact that both Obsidian Black Metallic and Silver Metallic are no longer available for the 2018 Model X, the exterior color choices remain the same.
A further reduction in interior options was made, with Multi-Pattern Textile seats deleted from the menu, and 100% vegan (synthetic) leather used instead of animal hide leather.

2019 Model X Colors
There were three battery options available for the Model X in 2019: Standard Range, Long Range, and Performance. Tesla ditched the kWh naming convention (75D, 100D, P100D, P100DL) and went with a less numerical option.
They retained the same five exterior colors, as well as the same three interior colors as they currently use. They dropped Obsidian Black Metallic and Silver Metallic from the exterior colors palette.

2020 Model X Colors
With the introduction of the Model X Long Range, Long Range Plus, and Performance trim levels, the number of batteries and trim levels has remained relatively stable in 2020.
Long Range Plus was added as an option at the end of 2020, while the Long Range variant was dropped.
Despite Tesla’s effort to optimize production and offer a variety of options for buyer, no significant changes were made to the 2020 Model X’s exterior or interior colors.

2021 Model X Colors
In terms of the battery and color options for the Model X (both interior and exterior), there were no surprises or meaningful changes in 2021.
This is Tesla’s first model to retain its standard five core exterior colors as well as three core interior colors. Animal leather is not an option inside (and we don’t expect it to change).

2022 Model X Colors
There were only two Model X variants offered by Tesla in 2022: the Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive Model X and the Tri Motor All-Wheel Drive Model X Plaid.
There are five core exterior colors and three core interior colors available on both the base Model X and the Model X Plaid. Although there have been rumors of more color options available for the Plaid in 2022, no new choices have been released during that year, but Ultra Red was introduced in early 2023.

2023 Model X Colors
The Model X will be available in a new red color for 2023: Ultra Red, which is deeper, more crimson in color compared to their long-gone Signature Red paint color.
It is still unknown whether Tesla will add more gray options like Quicksilver, Giga Berlin’s color on the Model Y, or whether these two colors will be replaced by Ultra Red in early 2023.

Best Model X Color
It is no secret that the Model X is a popular vehicle. These factors have led to a lot of debate about the best Model X color.
It is always subjective to determine the “best color,” so let’s answer it subjectively (with some reasoning, obviously). During this time, we will also look at some of the finer questions, such as which Model X color hides scratches best and is the easiest to take care of.

Best Tesla Model X Color for Hiding Scratches
The contrast between the dark color of dark colors and the lighter color of scratch marks tends to make them more apparent when it comes to hiding scratches. Lighter colors are much more effective at hiding scratches.
There are two colors that work best for hiding scratches on the Model X: Pearl White Multi-Coat and Silver Metallic. Unfortunately, Silver Metallic has been discontinued so we’ll say Pearl White Multi-Coat is the best choice.
Easiest Tesla Model X Color To Take Care Of (Or Keep Clean)
In the same way that whites and silvers hide scratches, lighter colors are easier to maintain.
It’s hard to beat Pearl White Multi-Coat when it comes to keeping a Tesla Model X clean. The pearlescent sheen hid dirt in the winter, scratches (see above), and imperfections all while keeping the paint’s unique, pearlescent sheen. Silver Metallic would be our runner up if it wasn’t made anymore (but we’re excluding that from the top spot in this category because it’s not available anymore).
Best-Looking Model X Color in Daylight
For the Model X, deep blue metallic is probably the best-looking color in direct sunlight. It has a purple-ish hue in darker light, but in direct sunlight it really stands out – the color really is electric (no pun intended).
Best-Looking Model X Color at Night Time
Whenever it comes to a Model X at night, Solid Black is best. Its timeless elegance and striking look make it ideal for any black tie event. It’s like wearing a tuxedo to a black tie affair.
Best Overall Tesla Model X Color
It’s tough to decide since each Tesla model (S, 3, X, Y) has a different way of presenting the colors. The Obsidian Black Metallic color is our personal favorite for the Model S and Model 3, but what about the Model X? Well, it’s a little different, since some colors are more vivid on the X due to its larger size.
